Fly Fishing Charters in New Smyrna Beach & Mosquito Lagoon
Saltwater Fly Fishing Built for Precision and Progress
Fly fishing in shallow, clear water is one of the most rewarding challenges in all of angling—and Captain Bach Charters delivers that experience for both seasoned fly anglers and serious learners. These trips are designed around stalking visible fish, making the right presentation, and reading subtle cues.
If you’ve dreamed of landing a redfish on fly or want to test your skills against tailing drum, cruising snook, or laid-up tarpon, you’re in the right place. Every trip is private, fully guided, and purpose-built for technical saltwater fly fishing.
What Makes Fly Fishing Here Unique
Florida’s east coast offers ideal habitat for fly anglers—skinny water, grassy flats, and fish that respond to clean casts and natural movement. But success in these environments doesn’t come easy. It requires stealth, accuracy, and situational awareness.
Captain Bach guides you through that process, from cast prep and leader setup to final presentation. You’ll fish with intention, focus, and a clear goal: make the right cast and earn the eat.
Fly Fishing Targets by Season
Depending on the time of year and water clarity, you’ll sight cast to a mix of aggressive, shallow-water species. Each demands its own approach and tempo.
Species Commonly Targeted:
- Redfish –
The primary focus. Year-round targets found cruising or tailing in inches of water.
- Spotted Seatrout –
Larger fish often ambush early morning; best in cooler seasons.
- Snook –
Cast to mangrove edges and undercut banks on warm-water tides.
- Black Drum – Great for slow fly presentation; can be tailing or cruising in schools.
- Tarpon –
Juveniles inside creeks or bigger migratory fish nearshore (seasonal).
- Sheepshead & Jacks – Opportunistic bonus targets around structure or bait activity
Capt. Bach selects spots based on sun angle, water height, and wind to maximize your shot count.
Custom-Tailored Fly Fishing Experience
Every fly fishing charter is built around your skill level, casting range, species preference, and gear setup. The goal is always to grow your ability and confidence in real-world conditions—not just practice loops from the casting platform.

- Private charter for 1–2 anglers
- Premium saltwater fly rods (typically 6wt–9wt)
- Floating lines + appropriate leaders
- Hand-tied flies (shrimp, crab, baitfish)
- Cooler with ice and water
- Florida fishing license
- Full poling skiff access (no trolling motor noise)
- Casting instruction, if requeste
Coaching Without the Pressure
Many guides say they offer “fly fishing charters”—but few understand how to teach them effectively. Captain Bach blends coaching and independence so that you improve while staying in control of the experience.
You’ll receive guidance on:
- Managing line on the deck
- Leading fish without spooking
- Adjusting casting angle to wind
- Timing strips and hook sets
- Controlling pressure during the fight
For experienced fly anglers, Capt. Bach offers fine-tuning on loop control, accuracy under pressure, and tactical positioning.
Ideal Conditions for Fly Fishing
Fly fishing is always better with:
- Clear water
- Moderate wind (or calm)
- Low sun angles (early or late light)
- Moving water with visible bait or structure
Trips are scheduled around these elements. Captain Bach personally confirms tide, wind, and water clarity 24 hours before your trip. If the conditions aren’t optimal for fly, adjustments will be made—or you’ll be offered another style of trip if needed.
Fly Charter Rates
Fly charters are priced the same as standard inshore trips but include fly-specific gear and instruction.
- 4-Hour Fly Fishing Charter – $500
- 6-Hour Extended Fly Charter – $600
- 8-Hour Full Day – $700
Single angler trips are often ideal for fly fishing to reduce weight, increase stealth, and improve boat positioning. Two anglers are welcome if alternating on deck.
